Tida Gowin, 80, of 304 E. Franklin St., a retired Alcoa Aluminum Co. employee, died early today in Veteran's Hospital at Indianapolis.

Mr. Gowin was a veteran of World War I.

He was born in Putnam County on Feb. 3, 1895, a son of Ellsworth and Bertha McVay Gowin. He was married to Clara Mae Allen on June 25, 1919, at Cates.

Surviving are the widow; a sister, Mrs. Irene Beman of Champaign, Ill.; two nephews; a great-niece; and a great-nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Powers Funeral Home with burial in Coal Creek Cemetery near Covington. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
